All the mayors in Belgium have received the declaration of Dakar
While the WTO conference was taking place in Cancun, the communication campaign developped by farmers organisations in Belgium between August, 21st and Septembre 14th was going on. The main idea of the campaign was very simple: farmers in the North and South are all threatenned and united in front of the liberalisation process lead by the WTO. The Belgian people has to know that on all the main subjects farmers in the North and South have common interests and positions, contrary to what has been said, included by important political leaders.
Practically: all the towns in Wallonie (the French speaking part of Belgium) have received a synthetic document ( among which was the declaration of Dakar), addressed to each mayor.
At the same time, delegations of farmers have been received by municipal or provincial authorities :
