International Conference on Agrarian Reform and Rural Development from 7 to 10 March 2006
The FAO Council during its 128th session approved the realization of an International Conference on Agrarian Reform and Rural Development to be held in Porto Alegre Brazil with the slogan "New challenges and options for revitalizing rural communities". However, this conference is not new. Indeed, the FAO had already organized a conference on this topic in 1979. We post the two final declarations here. Outside of this conference, the International Planning Committee (IPC), the civil society institution responsible for the follow-up of the FAO and the World Food Summit, organised its own Forum also in Porto Alegre entitled: "Land, Territory and Dignity", from the 6th to the 9th of March and for which we also publish the final declaration.
